ADVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

1 Peter 5:5-10

So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. 

Reflection: God’s Timing is Perfect

This letter was believed to have been addressed in places where Christian persecutions were occurring. The people seeking to live as God’s people were experiencing, “trial by fire.” What trials are we experiencing today that test our genuine faith? For some of us, the timing of the trial may be a mild interruption or delay in our path. For others, the timing of the trial may be a life and death situation. No matter what the trial is, we keep hope in remembering that the devil’s timing is methodical, but God’s timing is perfect.
