God’s Generosity is Infinite

God’s Gift

2 Corinthians 9:8-10

Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: “He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

Reflection: God Challenges Our Generosity

Paul established a Christian community in Corinth about the year 51, on his second missionary journey. Through his letters, we can glimpse both the strengths and the weaknesses of this small group in a great city of the ancient world, men and women who had accepted the good news of Christ and were now trying to realize in their lives the implications of their baptism.

In this passage, the important message Paul is trying to remind the people is that God’s generosity is infinite. He challenges us to follow that same behavior. True generosity does not measure, it just gives. It defies logic because the less we have, the more we give. That is the beauty of God.
