The New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE) is a culmination of 20 years of work by a collective of nearly 100 scholars, theologians, bishops, revisers, and editors. Thirteen revisors and five editors began translation works on the New Testament in 1978 and completed the revisions in 1986. Forty revisers and a board of eight editors began working through the Old Testament in 1994 and completed the revised translations in 2001. The 1991 revision of the Psalter, the work of thirty revisers and six editors, was further modified by seven revisers and two editors between 2009 and 2010. The NABRE includes a newly revised translation of the entire Old Testament (including the Book of Psalms) and the 1986 edition of the New Testament.

Benefits of the NABRE Translation
The NABRE Bible translation is easy to read and understand. Modern scholastic advances in biblical study and adaption to changes in linguistics render a more accurate translation in contemporary English.
The NABRE uses the best manuscript translating traditions to translate more literally and accurately than previous translations available. The NABRE is the first Catholic translation directly from the original biblical languages rather than from the Latin Vulgate.
Utilizes recently discovered ancient manuscripts like the Dead Sea Scrolls to provide better historical textual tradition contained in the various introductions and footnotes.
In addition to the accurate translations of the original language texts, the NABRE provides introductions, outlines for every book of the Bible, and over 8,000 study notes prepared by the Catholic Biblical Scholarship Team.
The NABRE is an approved translation by The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for bible study and personal prayer devotion.
